Gjerdalen and Norgren show in the Toblach-Cortina

Russia’s Chernousov out, Ustiugov 3rd

It has been a memorable day between Toblach (BZ) and Cortina (BL) for the 41st edition of the Granfondo Toblach-Cortina. 50km in classic technique and a completely snow-covered landscape have created breathtaking challenges with two sprint arrivals for men and ladies. Tord Asle Gjerdalen (2:15:43.1) has won ahead of Andreas Nygaard (2:15.43.6) and Sergey Ustiugov (2:15.43.7), who took part in this race to compete with the champions of Skimarathons. Ilya Chernousov had finished in second place before being disqualified for obstruction. Nobody wanted to take the lead making the final sprint more appealing. The best Italian athlete has been Mauro Brigadoi, 15th in 2:15.48. The ladies race has been marked by another sports battle between the Swede Britta Johansson Norgren (2:46.12.07) and Katerina Smutna (2:46.12.39), with the Swede to have triumphed in all Visma Ski Classics races of the season. Third place for Lina Korsgren (2:46.31) with Kristian Ghedina as spectator. The 30 km skating race is scheduled for tomorrow from Fiames to the Nordic Arena in Toblach.
